About AvoBio

Advanced Biology. Forward Thinking.

Our Mission

To make plasmids easy to buy, fast to receive, and consistent every time. We serve the underserved: small research clinics, community labs, hobbyists, high schools, and startups who need simple RUO plasmids without the bureaucracy.

The Story

It started with a bedtime question.

My six year old, Amrit, asked me how tsunamis are created. He's fascinated by natural disasters, the idea that nature can do something so massive and powerful. I didn't have a great answer, and that led to another question: why is the sun on fire?

None of us knew. So I started digging.

That curiosity took me down a rabbit hole I never expected. Protons, electrons, atoms. Solar flares. How our solar system formed. The magic of gravity. And somehow, that path eventually led me to gene splicing.

That's when I learned you need an empty plasmid to do this work. And that's when things got really interesting.

I discovered how DNA was first identified. How mitochondria carry their own genetic code. How DNA operates like machine code, a language that builds life. How there are over 54,000 known plasmids, each with different sizes and functions. The deeper I went, the more fascinating it became. I'm still on that path.

But I also noticed something else. Getting your hands on the right plasmid, especially if you're a smaller lab, an educator, or a hobbyist, is harder than it should be. Slow delivery. Licensing headaches. Barriers that don't need to exist.

My wife Madhuri spent years working as a lab technician and in research roles. When I started sharing what I was learning, we both saw the same thing: an opportunity to actually help.

I'm good at operations, building systems, making things efficient. She knows how labs work and what researchers actually need. Together, we decided to build something.

AvoBio exists to get you the plasmids you need, fast, without the legal friction. Generic vectors. License free. Ready to use.

"We're a mom and pop bio startup with big ambitions. We want to become the best in this space, and we'll work hard to earn that. Help us get there and we promise to do everything we can to support your work."

Much love, Madhuri and Kanwal

What's in a Name?

Our name reflects our philosophy. "Avo" comes from avant (meaning ahead or forward).

It represents forward progress, advanced thinking, and scientific innovation. When combined with "Bio" (the foundation of life sciences), it stands for:

  • Advanced Biology
  • Forward-thinking Research
  • The next evolution in biotechnology

Avant-Garde Biology

Who We Serve

Research Clinics

Small labs that need reliable reagents without the red tape of large suppliers.

Education

High schools and universities teaching the next generation of scientists.

Community Labs

Hobbyists and bio-hackers pushing the boundaries of citizen science.

Long-Term Vision

We are starting with the 10 most essential plasmids, but our goal is to become the "Amazon of Plasmids." We plan to scale to 100+ vectors, launch educational kits, and offer custom sourcing globally.
